Thanks to AIRR, we've secured 20,000 GB200 GPU hours on Isambard-AI — the UK's most powerful supercomputer — to help us build a foundation model that deploys to new customers without retraining.
20,000 GB200 GPU Hours
We're excited to share that Matta has been awarded 20,000 GB200 GPU hours on Isambard-AI, the UK's most powerful supercomputer, through the AI Research Resource (AIRR).
Isambard-AI is built on NVIDIA's Grace Hopper superchips and delivers over 21 exaflops of AI performance, a scale of compute that's normally out of reach for a company at our stage. Access opened up to startups and innovators through the Sovereign AI fund, and we're putting that compute to serious use.
Our Goal
Our goal: build a foundation model that understands the physical rules of manufacturing well enough that it doesn't need retraining every time we deploy it to a new customer or a new production line. Today, most computer vision systems need to learn each new environment from scratch. With this compute, we're training models designed to generalise, arriving at a new factory already knowing what a defect looks like, in-context, without months of new data collection.
Current Progress
We've already secured access and started training new models with this capability. It's early results so far, but it points toward something we've believed since day one: manufacturing AI shouldn't need to be rebuilt from the ground up at every factory it touches. We're grateful to AIRR and the team behind Isambard-AI for making this level of research possible for a company our size.
